AUTHOR · SPEAKER · THE RETURN TO SELF METHOD
My story is not about staying strong. It is about coming home.
This is the story behind Journey Back to Self and the method I now teach women who are ready to stop abandoning themselves to be chosen.

The return
Sometimes the breaking point becomes the doorway back home.
I'm Sara Jodoin, Women's Healing Coach, speaker, author of Journey Back to Self, and creator of the Return to Self Method.
Let me tell you my story.
Before I was even born, I was already part of a wound.
I came from a forbidden relationship, one that changed the course of my mother's life forever. She had a brilliant future ahead of her, but when she became pregnant with me, she had to give up university. My parents had no place to live, no real foundation beneath them, and the rejection around my birth was so deep that my mother's own parents turned away from her and renounced her as their daughter.
Before I had a name, before I had a voice, before I had taken my first breath, I was already the child associated with shame, loss, and everything that had gone wrong.
Born in Portugal, I left after years of emotional and physical abuse, carrying a deep feeling in my soul that there was no place where I truly belonged. Immigrating to Canada was not only a move to a new country. It was an act of survival, courage, and self-rescue.
But survival does not disappear just because we change countries.
I carried it in my body. In my silence. In my relationships. In the way I kept going, kept proving, kept smiling, even when something inside me was breaking.
My work was born from that journey.
From childhood wounds. From bulimia. From heartbreak. From business loss. From a last-minute cancelled wedding. From all the moments life stripped away who I thought I was and asked me to find the woman underneath.
Then, at 38, everything stopped.
A near-death car accident left me with a fractured spine, a head injury, and several other fractures. My body was broken. My future felt uncertain. And for the first time, healing was no longer something I could postpone.
I had to rebuild everything.
My body. My nervous system. My strength. My self-trust. My relationship with life.
Through movement, martial arts, yoga, breathwork, discipline, spiritual study, and deep emotional transformation, I learned that healing is not about becoming someone new. It is about returning to the woman you were before survival taught you to disappear.
And at 43, after rebuilding my body from trauma, I beat every personal record I had set before my accident and placed in the top 10 at a Spartan competition.
That moment became more than a race. It became proof.
Proof that the body can rise again. Proof that the heart can trust again. Proof that a woman's next chapter can be more powerful than the one that tried to break her.
Today, I help women who are tired of being strong alone come back to their body, their truth, their self-trust, and their feminine power.
Because you are not broken.
You are becoming.
And no matter how far you have been from yourself, there is still a way home.
The Return to Self Method
The method came from the work of returning, not from pretending the pain never happened.
I teach women how to recognize survival armor, rebuild self-trust, practice receiving, and begin growing through love instead of pain.
Back to my body. Back to my voice. Back to my worth.
Back to the woman I had abandoned while trying to be loved.
